Planting and Growing Wildflowers As Easy As 123

| #1Prepare the Soil | |
|
Sprouting seed and growing wildflowers is easy. If wildflower seed is to be planted in the spring, first find an area that receives full sun most of the day. Remove the weeds and grasses. Use Grass Getter® grass herbicide to speed up the job. Roughen the soil to a depth of not more than two inches. Then level the area, removing or breaking up large clods of dirt. Evenly apply the seed you have purchased over the prescribed area, being careful not to plant too much seed on a small plot. |

| #2Scatter the Seed | |

Scatter the seeds evenly over the seedbed. This is easier to do when you first mix your wildflower seed with sand (1 part seed and 4 parts sand). If your mix already has an 'inert carrier' the sand is not necessary. Once you've scattered your seeds, lightly rake the area or sprinkle the area with just enough water to 'melt' the soil down over the seeds. Do not cover the seeds with a heavy layer of soil. They should be covered just enough to keep them hidden from birds or other predators, and to keep them from blowing away before they germinate. |
| #3Keep Moist | |
|
Once
your seeds are planted, most of your work is done. If you plant
during the rainy season, you can just sit back and let nature take
over.
If you plant after the rainy season, you must provide water for your newly planted seeds. Keep the area moist for the next 2-3 weeks. After the first two critical weeks, tiny green shoots will begin to appear. If your soil had weeds in it before you planted your wildflower seeds, you're likely to see some weed sprouts along with your wildflower plants. Learn to identify the weeds and pull them before they set seed. If grasses creep back in, try Grass Getter®, our selective grass herbicide. |
